The stone’s name stems from its quarries’ close location to Agra city. This remarkable Indian stone has demonstrated exceptional durability through time, as evidenced by its pristine condition in historic structures like Agra Fort and Delhi’s Red Fort, where it was extensively utilized in construction. Its gentle, polished texture makes it highly suitable for various building applications, allowing easy cutting and carving. This sandstone is also recognized by several alternative names including Allekta Sandstone, Koaroli Sandstone, Morning Glory Sandstone, Red Agra Sandstone, Barauli Sandstone, Barauli Red Sandstone, and Karauli Sandstone.
